In the world of DIY projects, home security can be akin to learning an entirely new trade- just to set up your own system properly. However, Simplisafe alarm system reviews typically begin with how easy the system is to put into place without any installation experience.
Because this is so user-friendly and seemingly a breeze for the do-it-yourselfer, we’re going to dive into the systems available through Simplisafe.
Pick a Security Package
If you look at the packages available at the Simplisafe website, you’ll find that several different packages are meant to cater to certain style living quarters. All will vary in price and will vary in scope.
For example, you’ll not need enough components to fully protect a two-story home if you’re looking to protect a one-story apartment.
Build Your Own Alarm System
If you want to work from the ground up, you can pick and choose which components you’d like to incorporate into your home. This can be more or less expensive, all depending on your needs and how many components you wind up acquiring.
Features Included in the Simplisafe Alarm System
When you dig into the capabilities of the alarm system, you’ll find that the technology included go beyond break-ins. Sleek in appearance, smaller in size, and less intrusive, the components don’t stick out from the rest of your home’s décor.
Here are some of the features you can expect from the Simplisafe alarm system:
Smart Intruder Recognition
The brains behind this alarm system are able to discern between a broken plate, and a broken window; a person entering a space, or an animal like a dog or cat walking through a zone.
This technology prevents false alarms and unnecessary alerts to the professionals at Simplisafe as well as your personal devices.
Not Just a Burglar Alarm
The base station is able to detect fires, smoke, storm damage (such as leaks), and warns you if your pipes are at risk of freezing. Whatever is detected, the proper authorities will be contacted.
If it’s a break-in, the police will be notified, if it’s a fire, the fire department will be called.
Wi-Fi Connections
All components are connected via Wi-Fi, so there are no wires to have to worry about. For the people who are interested in DIY, this is a huge timesaver and avoids having to mess with holes in the walls, or doing more work than you originally anticipated
Signal Burst Technology
Signal burst technology is utilized by Simplisafe to extend the battery life of the components at play while extending the reach of their signals. This is meant to relieve you of having to switch out your batteries over and over again. According to Simplisafe, this technology makes it so you seldom need to change the batteries out.
Alerts
The days of the police showing up at your home because your kids came home before you did are over. Well, at least they are with this system.
The alerts are one of the best and most convenient features incorporated into their systems. You’re alerted personally through whatever device you linked to the system- a tablet or cellphone would be the most common (if not both).
While you’re away, you’re alerted of any findings through your security system. If someone left a window open, you’d be alerted to it if it’s while you’ve turned on your system. You’ll also be told which window!
If there’s any activity detected at all, be it pre-planned like a visitor showing up and turning off the alarm, a fire, or any unusual activity, it will be sent to your device. Also, you can observe what’s going on at home from the palm of your hand, through the lens of the security camera (the Simplicam).
All these options make for instant access into what’s going on inside of your home. You can also arm or disarm your system via phone, making it more convenient if you’re expecting company while you’re out, or if it’s time for the kids to get home from school.
Simplisafe Alarm System Reviews Across the Web
Every outlet that provides feedback on purchases has positive reviews for Simplisafe and their various security products. Google Store has them at 5 stars with nearly 40,000 reviews, and Amazon has them at 4.5 stars with over 8,000 reviews.
If you check out the reviews themselves, you’ll find that the only real complaint is the camera itself. Some people aren’t satisfied with the quality of the image.
The camera costs $99.00 by itself and is by no means a high-ticket item in the world of cameras. But from what I’ve seen, it’s image quality and capabilities, are better than what you’d expect for the price as compared to items in the same price range.
Monitoring Services
There are two different services available as it relates to monitoring your system.
- Standard Professional Monitoring- $.50 per day
- Interactive Professional Monitoring- $.83 per day
Check out their plan page for descriptions and differences between these two packages.
Conclusion
Well, is the Simplisafe System worth what you’re paying for? Yes, it is. 24/7 monitoring availability and all of the components, do work out to be cheaper than other systems by different brands. The multi-layered levels of security provide peace of mind that extends beyond your windows and doors.
And it can’t be underscored enough; the ease by which this can be installed is a feature all on its own. Just plug in the base, and place the components where you want them- it’s that simple.
Some DIY projects are beneficial or fun. But when it comes to a security system, you’ll be far better off taking the wireless route, and going with a system such as the focus of this page.
The costs saved by doing it yourself versus hiring professionals to come in and install it for you will save you a boatload of cash. Also, knowing that it’s Wi-Fi, you can modify your set-up at any time if you feel compelled to do so.
Once a hardwired system is in place, it’s there forever, and you’ll be leaving it behind when you move on to another home. Such is not the case with this comprehensive wireless system.
If you have any comments or input on SimpliSafe or any other related subject, we’d love to hear from you. Just drop a note below and we will respond to you.
So glad you wrote this article and I really hope that I can find out the answer to my question. I have been considering simplisafe for a long time and it sounds really good. Plus, I can install it with no problem. My question is, though, can it be a totally wireless hookup? I have problems with Internet access because I live in the country and the only thing available is hotspots through Verizon. Can I use that or do I have to have a wired connection? Also, how much bandwidth will it take to have simplisafe on all the time? Another challenge of living in the country is limited – very limited – bandwidth and very expensive bandwidth. I need some sort of security and would like this option. Any information about this that you have would be very helpful. Thanks in advance!!!!!
Hi Janice! Thanks for your inquiry.
I understand your dilemma. Although not currently in the same situation you are in, I was for quite a while. Let me see if I can answer your questions sufficiently. First, Simplisafe is completely wireless except for the base station which would be somewhere convenient for you inside your home. ALL the other components are battery powered (no electrical wiring involved), and connect to your base station via your wifi. Well, the components of your SimpliSafe system will communicate with your base station via wifi, and if you want monitoring, that is done through the base station’s built-in cellular.
Second, the bandwidth for the cameras is approx 2 mbps per camera. I’ve heard from other rural users that they haven’t had any issues with bandwidth or connectivity. From my understanding, Verizon is the best one to have, and TMobile runs a close second. And, given their bandwith allowances, I can see why people with SimpliSafe and those providers have no trouble. But do keep in mind that it’s 2mbps per camera. So, if you have a boatload of cameras on your property, each one would take up 2mbps. Still shouldn’t be a problem unless you live in a huge palace. But since I’m not completely certain about the bandwidth that Verizon provides with your particular service, I can only suggest you ask them what they provide on your plan.
Great question and I hope you feel free to contact us again here. If there is an answer we have or can get for you, we will do our best! 🙂
Thanks again!
Darrin
Do the cameras only use data when activated? I have a 2GB hot spot (only cell service around is Tmobile and were weren’t able to get the tower activated via cellular) so I will be using the hotspot for monitoring? If the camera’s are on all the time then I don’t think it will last long….
Hi David, Thanks so much for your questions, and I apologize for the delay. This message just came through to me today, but it’s dated the 11th…? Anyway, both the SimpliCam and the Doorbell Cameras only record when motion is detected or with a rare few other events. Below are a couple of links that you can check out to see exactly when the cameras record. But I think you would be fine with your Hotspot monitoring setup since the cameras would not be continually recording.
Thanks again for your questions! Below are those links, and feel free to shoot me another message with any further questions.

Thank you for providing so much information with great details about security cameras.
I didn’t know you could use them to detect so many things. It’s even better having a private security looking over your house when you are not home.
Those warning signs detection are very important and super helpful.
I am thinking of getting one myself!
Super cool!
Cheers!
Thanks Judy! They are great systems, all of them. And easy to use. Let me know what you think if you get one of them.
Best,
Darrin
HI, Thanks for the review on Simply-safe alarm systems. I really had no idea that alarm systems had come this far. It is really affordable now to acquire an alarm system. I knew it was more effective now than a decade ago when I last checked, since the whole “smart home” was introduced, This sounds like exactly what I need to alleviate a stalker situation I am having. I can now afford a system AND afford the daily monitoring service. I have one question though. If I decide to upgrade on the camera, with the rest of the system still work with the new camera? Thank you for the info!
SimpliSafe has a doorbell camera as well which has high resolution, can be streamed right from your phone, and it is very popular. Since Simplisafe is Alexa enabled, there are other cameras you can link up with this system if you are looking for something else. The Arlo Pro 2 outdoor/indoor camera is one of those items. A quick search in Google about any particular item you would want to sync with SimpliSafe, and there will be info there. Or, let me know if you have something particular you are looking for and I’ll check for you to see if it is compatible.
Here’s a quote from safety.com: “Your SimpliSafe home security system will be compatible with Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa, Apple Watch, and August smart locks.” This opens up the possibilities in case someone were to integrate different equipment.
Thanks for your inquiry! Hit me back anytime with any other questions you may have.

Wow back! 🙂 I appreciate your enthusiasm. SimpliSafe is a great company with some great products. Of course, I take being honest with all of our viewers seriously, so I would add that I wish there were a couple of additional items on their list of products. But you can add other products to this system that are compatible, and SimpliSafe is working on other items to offer in the near future.
Protect your family at all costs. We all (I would hope) want to do that. Thanks so much for taking the time to give your input.

Wow! This is amazing!
I love the ” simplisafe alarm system” . It is really simple to install and safe, it meets all the needs of a security system and I don’t need to employ the service of a professional to install, I will just do it myself with stress. I think this so the way to go in home security system.
Agreed! SimpliSafe puts the best aspect of their products and services as the first part of their name, “Simpli”. There are a couple of great home security companies on the market that offer DIY and some similar services, but SimpliSafe keeps taking the plunge to dive deeper into market share by offering better and better products and outstanding service.
Thanks man for your comments!
Darrin
Helo Dear,
Thanks for sharing this review on simplisafe alarm system. The simplisafe alarm system is really amazing band has some really wonderful features. I have seen some of those before as a matter of fact we do make use of the simplisafe alarm system in my company’s work whee I work before. It’s very effecient and effective.
They are a rising entity because of their seriousness to provide the best equipment and best service. Not because of me, but many of my family members and best friends use SimpliSafe and are so happy after switching from other providers.
Thanks for your input!

I am in the market for a house to buy, and I found this post very helpful. No matter where I choose to move, I would like to have a security system in place within my new home.
There are many security systems out there, but I really like your review and knowledge of Simplisafe. I will be saving this post so that when I am ready to install a security system I can find this post easily.
I will be going with the wireless system. I know that I am not good with setting up cables, so wireless is best for me.
I will be sharing this with other people I know who are also looking for security systems.
Awesome Elise! These systems are easy to install, and you can even buy a little at a time. It’s an easy set of products to pick and choose what you can afford and to add to it as you are able. Better yet, SimpliSafe isn’t the expensive kids on the block, but on the more affordable side while being the highest rated home security with many of your top rated review sites. In fact, they are rated the #1 DIY system with cnet, pc mag, US News and World Report, and the list goes on.
Feel free to contact me anytime on here if you have further questions. SimpliSafe would be a great choice for your new home!
Darrin
Very well explained, thanks for the review, very honest input on the camera quality issue, is there a way to upgrade it?
As with everything and specially DIY I assume there could be some issues and questions about the installation but it seems to be pretty straight forward and your review just clearly puts things into perspective, ideal for going on vacation.
thanks for the review looking forward to installing my Simplisafe system,
cheers
Awesome Louis! SimpliSafe is adding new products regularly and there’s no doubt there is an enhanced lineup of cameras coming soon. And you can upgrade or add to any SimpliSafe system you please let me know what you think once you have it installed.
Thanks Louis!

Found this article very thorough, in all means. Something that I don’t like is to change batteries. Reading other comments I couldn’t find any info if there’s a way to connect to electricity or, as you’ve said, I can only use the cameras with batteries?! Comparing Simplisafe with other surveillance systems, based on the amount of features, there’s no doubt who wins. Again for me one con would be the batteries.
Actually, to correct anything that was not put this way in the article, the SimpliCam uses an AC plug or USB connection. So, any wall plug or 5V DC source should do. You can run the USB cable to an inconspicuous location if needed. The base station and the camera are the two that aren’t typically battery powered. The reason would be obvious since a camera or base station would use up battery power a lot quicker than a motion sensor or sensors on doors or windows.
Thanks for your questions and input. I appreciate it and hope I have answered sufficiently. If not, please hit me back on here and I’ll respond promptly.

The Simplisafe System looks like an ideal security solution for every household. I was intreaged to the fact that detect waterleaks and fires as well. Sounds like an awesome security solution!
But I have a question though. There is a payplan for this system. Does that mean that it’s connected to a security company? Or can you choose to not be connected to it?
This system, is it available internationally as well?
All the best,
Fred.
Hi Fred! Great questions! I’ll do my best to answer them as I understand them.
SimpliSafe offers monitoring plans, but that isn’t their main claim to fame. They are primarily known for their DIY easy-to-install components and their price to quality ratio. Most people I know that use SimpliSafe don’t use their monitoring plans. So, internationally you are set as long as you have a wifi/cellular connection. You could use this stuff a thousand miles into the desert if you could get a connection.
Thanks for your questions and interest. You’d be pleased with SimpliSafe!

Alarm systems are a great way to give people piece of mind when they are in their homes. Everyone wants to protect their family from harm. Alarm systems will notify us of any potential danger before we even realize there is a situation. They can be hooked up and monitored by companies who will alert the police of your behalf if there is a dangerous situation unfolding and you’re unable to call them. Knowing that you can take matters into your own hands and build it yourself is even more reassuring, if you’re into that kind of thing. Most people don’t know much about the process and will just go with the reputable companies.
Exactly! People go with name recognition, and although SimpliSafe and a few other great companies haven’t been around for 200 years with that type of nostalgic recognition, the truth is that the newer companies are in an entirely more technological arena. It’s hard to have old paradigms see the benefit in change, but these new companies (SimpliSafe as the top of the list at this time IMO) are allowing the customer to be the security company if they so chose and the ability to install their own equipment. All along offering monitoring for those with a budget for it or the desire to use it. Reputable companies often lose their steam when they don’t keep up with the technological changes and cultural ones. Commodore computers seemed to have done something like that.
This is so good to be true: however, I am totally excited to learn more about Simplisafe alarm system and I love what I have learnt about the system so far. Although I am a lil bit techy, it sounds really interesting to know that this system is easy to assemble and install too. I love it wireless; this way, connection will be clean and easy plus cheap considering the fact that wire expenses iare eliminated. The features of Simplisafe alarm system are superbly incredible and this is one reason I keep falling in love with their products. Thanks for sharing this article as it’s really helpful.
Thanks so much for your input! It is an incredible product line-up. They have plans to add a lot in the future as well.
Darrin
The most exciting part of this simplisafe alarm system is that its quite simple to install, the external devices are completely qireless, that means any body can easily fix it and you don’t have problems to worry about the external cables.
This sound amazing i have been trying to work on something like like this before now but i must commend simplisafe for the high tech approach by the level of sensitovity of the device to differentiate between humans and other animal and even to differentiate betwwen broken mirrow and a broken plate
You are right on all points! And it is amazing they have created sensors to be calibrated to distinguish the frequency variations between window and a broken plate.
hello there, thanks for sharing this awesome article i know it would be of great help to the public as it has been of help to me.i have a few experience with stuffs like this andi have not really had the time to dive into it and find out more but thanks to this awesome article i think i now understand.
My pleasure! Ask any questions at any time you want to contact us here. We will do our best to give unbiased input on whatever questions you may have.

Hello there, the aks for sharing this detaiiled and informative post on simply safe alarm systems, I heard about this from a friend who got simply safe alarm systems installed in his house recently and decided to do some research about to know in details what simply safe alarm systems really entails and this post has really shed light as to why I need simply safe alarm systems in my home also.
thanks for sharing.
You will love it! Thanks for your input and I hope you give SimpliSafe a try.
Just what I was looking for, for the last few weeks. I think an alarm system is a must for every house or office. After all, your safety is in your own hands. And if you’re looking for a feel safe, reliable kind of security system, Simplisafe is what you need. This review has answered all the questions a person may ask before trusting a security system. Everything has been given detail about the product, ranging from the price, the assembly, the unique features, etc. The best part is that it is a multipurpose system! The cost is so pocket friendly in comparison to so many other alarm systems available in the market, which don’t even have half the features like this alarm system.
Thanks so much for your comments! I agree that SimpliSafe is the best thing going and they are a growing company. Not just by gaining more customers, but apparently they are wanting to be a trendsetter within the smart home arena.
Thanks again for your input!
Darrin, thanks for the comprehensive review. This isn’t the first review I’ve read about Simplisafe, I’ve researched it before and am still trying to decide if it is the right package and service to choose. I think my hang up is that there is a continuing service fee.
What additional arguments would give to but a security service rather than just some self monitored units?
Hi Charles! Thanks for your inquiry and comments. SimpliSafe’s products are all do-it-yourself products, unless one were to want professional installation, and there are no recurring fees unless you choose to have professional monitoring. Many if not most SimpliSafe customers do not use the monitoring service and self monitor as you were referring to.
I hope that helps with your decision. You would be pleased with SimpliSafe products. Let me know if you have any further questions.
Darrin
Thanks for this information, Darren
I had been thinking about doing something to improve the safety and security of my apartment, but hadn’t really got much further than that. Your article has given me the perfect place to start, with clear information about the kind of features that might or might not be suitable.
Hi Shell! Thanks for your comments. Actually, SimpliSafe was originally designed to provide a suitable DIY system for those living in apartments. They are easy to install, the quality is top rated, and there are a lot of options in piecing together a system that works for your particular situation. You can just buy the few items you need, and if you move somewhere else, you can always ugrade and easily add components to your SimpliSafe system.
I hope it works out for you to try it out. You’ll love it!
Darrin
Wow what a great post. I never knew that you could get a completely wireless system. I actually installed Alarmforce alarms for 3 years and there’s was somewhat wireless. But not like this system.
I love the idea of doing it all yourself, and the non invasive way in which it gets installed. The price point of .50 per day seems like a great price.
My question is for many people the install alone would seem to be daunting. Is is hard to actually get setup. I’m thinking for those non techy people that want to try it.
Thanks for sharing such a great information.
Thanks so much Coralie for your response and questions!! As far as the installation being daunting, I understand why we would think that way with high tech gear, but the installation is extremely simple. And the support is easy to communicate with. They would help any customer by walking them through the installation on the phone. Frankly, I’ve known of many self installs by those who can’t open a can of pork and beans, and I don’t recall any of them ever needing to call support. Lol But it is available.
The base station with the 90 dB alarm will plug into any outlet and at any place within your home that’s convenient for you. (Of course this one component plugs in since it is portable and using battery power. It would be pointless to use a battery system in this… but yes, it is otherwise 100% wire-free)
SimpliSafe sensors, detectors, and other products use either a strong self-adhesive tape, or a couple of small screws. Simple as that!
Literally a few minutes while listening to your favorite music and it’s done and talking to you. 🙂
Thanks again for your inquiry. Hit us back here anytime.

Wow. I have seen SimpliSafe’s tv ads, but you cut through all of the hype and now I am persuaded to take advantage of what they offer. Which of their packages is the best fit for my needs, needs to be given some thought. But after looking at your other articles, SimpliSafe is now my first choice. Thank you for helping me.
Thanks so much Dane! SimpliSafe is a rising star. Actually, they already outshine the closest competitors and are only going to keep rising.
I hope you find a suitable package for your needs. Certainly you will. Please let me know your experience once you purchase a system. Just post it on this site. I’ll answer you!
Thanks again!
Darrin
Hey nice article you have there. Wow, this is indeed an added advantage to security system. This is exactly what I needs right now in my home to help combat with insecurity that is ravaging my region as a result of the lockdown that was initiated due to Covid 19. The DIY home protection is indeed unique as one can be notified of any intruding into his/her apartment right from their cell phones even when they are not at home.
I hope you enjoy the security with whichever package or product you choose. Simplisafe is unbeatable! They have more products to come and they will all be the talk of the town once released in my opinion.
Thanks for your input. 🙂

Hello there, This is am review that you have got here. I enjoyed going through this review your write up is impeccable and your website is beautifully arranged. The simplisafe alarm system is a great deal for maintaining a safe environment. They are perfect for houses and tend to come with amazing features.
Thanks for sharing.
Thank you as well for your input!

Thanks for the information for a DIY install for the SimpliSafe Alarm system. I am aware that I will need to refer back to this article, but I will not be as intimidated as I once was about the whole process. I know that a properly protected property is a turn off for vandalism and I would like to avoid that. By explaining how the system works, and what it will do, I feel more confident in this product.
Online purchases sure make things easier. Knowledge really is power, and I feel better about the whole idea of installing this myself. Do you think the spotty wifi we sometimes deal with will make a difference in this product performance? Sami
Hi Sami! Thanks for your comments and questions. Spotty wifi will affect anything connectetd to it as I’m sure you know. But on this systemm, only the cameras rely on the wifi. The window and door sensors and the motion detectors utitlize cellular. Your base station will let you know if a door is opened or a window, being that they have a sensor on them, regardless of spotty wifi. The cameras are pretty good at running full capacity even when the wifi is weak. But don’t quote me on that. It’s just a feeling from other people I’ve talked to.
You’d no doubt be happy with SimpliSafe! Let me know what you choose and any experience, good or bad, that you may have.
Thanks sami!
Darrin
wow this is awesome, I’ve been looking at trying to upgrade my security system at home with some of the over priced wifi systems out there, so I’m glad I came across your site to build my own alarm system using some of these products you mentioned. It will save me money and you just helped me make my home safer for my family thanks!
Thanks John! Feel free to post another comment on here once you have your system in place. We’d love to hear your honest evaluation.
Darrin
Hi Darren! this is very economical as it has affordable hardware with reasonable monthly monitoring fees, no contact required with cellular or WiFi connectivity. I just can not wait for this whole lock down thing to be over in my location so I can place an order for my family. Thanks for sharing the link.
No problem! Please let me know what you think once you have your system up and running.
Thanks for your input!
Darrin
Hello there! this is an amazing review you have got here. its so easy to monitor my home from anywhere with this technology, I love the design in the system’s hardware as the component is sleek and modern. I love it and I will like to get my grandma one for her home so she can watch her grand kids at home while away.
Great Idea! Your Grandma will love watching the little ones without having to be there. It’s the next best thing 🙂
Thanks for your input!

Great to learn about SimpliSafe – a security alarm system with its fantastic and viable products and services! Though its product list is, of course, appreciable, there could be more compatible products being added to it as the case may be.
Being a safe and easy-to-install alarm system, all the essential needs of a home security system are met. You can go about the installation yourself without needing anyone else to do it for you.
Israel Olatunji
Agreed! They are a great company, and they need a few more products. To my understanding, that is in the works. Keep an eye out for new edict releases from Simplisafe! Thanks for your comments!!
It’s incredible how far home security systems have come over the past couple decades. Gone are the days when you needed professionals to carefully tear apart your home to access its wiring. Thanks in great part to the invention of smart phones and wi-fi, you can now install systems like these yourself and even monitor the home yourself, while you’re away, from your own device. I currently live in an apartment, but will be looking for a house over the next few months. One of the first things I’m going to do is get one of these to help keep it safe. Thanks for sharing!
Mark
Thanks Mark! You won’t be disappointed!
Thanks for a comprehensive review of Simplisafe. I wonder if it really is a good idea for a DIYer to tackle a project like this. Unless you have some training and experience in specifying these systems I would have thought there would be many mistakes a DIYer could make in deciding what devices to put where. We have a system from ADT and it has worked well for us. I was most impressed by the professionalism of the guy who came and told us where the best locations for different devices would be. While I am sure much of that is common sense it is also reassuring that those design choices were made based on experience and rational knowledge about how break-ins etc occur. Thanks again for the useful review. Best regards, Andy
ADT is definitely a good company and great product. It’s just that people are going more for the DIY and self-monitoring systems these days. There are a lot of benefits with that. One is that you can easily take your system with you if you move. And the prices are better for equipment that works just as well. But I’d like to know more about your experience with ADT. I do not work for a security products company, I only review them and offer input to those searching. So, I do my best to be forthright and give honest opinions and to compile results of many of the other credible review websites out there. Hit me back on here anytime with any input you may have. 🙂
I’ve seen many offers from this company, Simplisafe Alarm System, in my e-mail. I even saw a commercial on T.V. about it. There are also many home protection companies out there competing to get you as a customer. I’m questionable about these companies now, especially those that can see through the lens of the activity of your home. There are also other companies who sell a DVR-security system with camera where you are in totally control. It operates with your Wi-Fi router and lets you monitor the activity with your smart phone. No need for a company doing the monitoring or ever pay for service. While the idea for these companies is helpful, I’d rather do it myself with less ears and eyes on my property. I’m glad that you wrote this review. I now know more about this company.
Yeah, it’s a bit unnerving how many angles there are for intrusion into our lives these days. As far as SimpliSafe by the way, they HAVE monitoring plans, but their main claim to fame is to be one of the top do-it-yourself companies. Set it up yourself, monitor it yourself via your home wifi, etc. Of course there are limitations to what you can monitor unless you have some basic services. That part is definitely true.
Thanks so much for your input. It’s greatly appreciated!
Darrin
I am happy to hear about the Simplisafe Alarm System is so simple and easy to install by DIY. Compared with a large and expensive home security system, the SimpliSafe Alarm System is an amazing and valued product. One piece is $99 for a room is considered cheap to proceed. The best is we can monitor our home security with our handphone anywhere, make it a comfortable product to have. Thank you very much for your recommendation.
No problem! Thanks Stephen for your comments!
Great review, It has a ton of information.
I really like how you can build your own alarm system by picking and choosing your favourite components. And the components look very sleek.
I am also very intrigued by the smart intruder recognition. Especially for me because we own three cats and a dog. The amount of times an alarm sets off will make it more of a nuisance than a security provider.
My family and I just moved into a new home and looking for a security system. I will definitely give this one a try.
Thanks Stephen! You won’t be disappointed. Come back and let us know what you think once you have it installed.
Wow this is a really great alarm system, and I loved how well written this review is. I have bookmarked your site and may buy this later, I’m waiting till I find out if I’m moving. We have a wired set up at our current home, but if i relocate for a job i might get (I’ll know if I got the job in the next day or two) I’ll have to get another security system, and i don’t want to have to pay for install again, lol. Thank you for the great review!
Thanks Brian! I hope you get the job! 🙂 Another good thing about the SimpliSafe systems is that if you move again, you just take the equipment down (a 10 minute job) and take it with you to your next home. That’s one of the best selling points in my opinion.
Hello there thanks for the review it was really helpful. For me, SimpliSafe is one of the most affordable monitored security services you can buy, and it’s also one of the easiest to set up and use. The variety of sensors all performed well in our tests, and the redesigned hardware looks better than ever at no additional cost. I have used this alarm system before and trust me, I never regretted buying it as it is very efficient
Thanks for your comments! I’m glad you are happy with SimpliSafe. They are a great company with great products.
Hello and thanks for the info on SimpliSafe alarm systems! I’ve read other reviews you’ve offered regarding other systems as well, and I find that SimpliSafe has a better selection and more rounded features. I’ll check back for more reviews soon to see what else you may recommend. I have some relatives who use these systems in a business and they totally love it! It’s easy to use and install, it is really reliable and consistent. Have you heard of SimpliSafe having any issues like Ring has had with hackers getting into the private cameras of some of their customers? Security for my home physically is important, but so is securing my family’s privacy. Cyber security is vital.
Thanks for your post and for any feedback you may have!
Hi, and thanks for your comments and question. As far as cyber security, it is true that one or two of the major security camera companies who offer the use of cameras through wifi have had some security breaches, however, to my knowledge SimpliSafe isn’t one of them. Of course, just because no one has discovered a hacker invading a family’s privacy doesn’t mean it didn’t happen. The good news is that since those publicized incidents months back, all companies using wifi (or the smart ones anyway) have taken the necessary steps to better encrypt and protect their customer’s privacy. The breaches I’m aware of actually involved users who at one time had access to cameras and were eventually taken off the system (perhaps like when a roommate moves out and is removed from having access to the system), but it didn’t work properly as those who were removed from the systems as a user were still able to access the cameras.
You are thinking right about SimpliSafe by the way. You won’t be disappointed. Please let me know if you purchase their products and what you think about them, or any other you should choose.
Thanks again!

Woah! It’s fairly impressive how the system can detect whether an animal is passing through a specific area or if it’s a break-in. My aunt had a different security system but it didn’t include options like this. In times like the ones we’re currently in, I think it would be a great idea for her to upgrade her system to this one. I will gladly discuss this article with her to see her opinions and what are her options. Thank you for the walk-through and brief explanation of the system.
Thanks Stephanie! I’m sure your aunt would love the SimpliSafe systems. Let me know what you all think about it if you install one. I’m sure you’ll love it!
I’ve been thinking about security in my home for a while now and, for some reason, I had not considered a security system. I guess I considered them to be a hassle to install in a space that I rent. This wireless, portable system seems to be just what I need so I sent you a request for a quote.
Do you know if I’m required to get permission from my landlord before hooking up a security system?
Awesome Cynthia! You will be very pleased. As far as whether or not your landlord would have no more issue with your security system than with you putting an Alexa speaker by your sofa or a clock on the wall. There is no wiring or constructively invasive installation. The installation is simple and would have no negative affect the property in any way. Also, any landlord would be glad for a tenant to have an alarm system like this put in their home (unless they were wanting to snoop around when you aren’t there, in which case you REALLY would need one) even though it will leave with you when you move. And removing the stuff is like packing your alarm clock or taking a picture off the wall.
As far as sending me a quote, the quotes are generated directly from SimpliSafe themselves. The site where you could view the different options is easy to use. Click here on GET A QUOTE! and get started! Please let me know what you think.

Thanks for your comments and questions Cynthia! You would do well to check out SimpliSafe’s products as a solution for your specific situation. It’s definitely not a hassle to install, and you simply (or should I say Simpli) take the items down and bring them with you to your next residence.
Your landlord will have no problem with you adding this type of security system to your home. These items take no more invasive work than what you would need to hang a small picture, even less than that. And several of the items have adhesive stickers that hold very well, but make no holes. The base just plugs in and sits wherever is convenient for you in your home. And lastly, landlords are typically glad for any tenant who has a security system, especially ones that do not require major installation. So, DIY systems are great with them. If you find out differently, I’d love to know. 🙂

Hi Cynthia, I always go back and check links I send anyone to be sure they work, because sometimes they act funny with different platforms. Comments would be one of those platforms. I don’t think you will be able to access the quote page for SimpliSafe from the link I sent you within the comments section here. So, here is the link that should take you directly there. I pray so!! 🙂

Just what I was looking for over the last few weeks. I think an alarm system is a must for every house or office. After all, your safety is in your own hands. And as I’m looking for a feel-safe, reliable kind of security system, I’m thinking that Simplisafe may be what is needed. This review has answered all the questions I had about SimpliSafe and enough to help me feel confident before trusting one enough to buy it. Everything has been given in detail about the product, ranging from the price, the assembly, the unique features, etc. The best part is that it is a multipurpose system! The cost is so pocket-friendly in comparison to most other alarm systems available on the market, and most of those don’t even have half of the features of this alarm system. Add to that, it is a DIY-and-take-it-with-you-if-you-move kinda thing! That’s what I’m taking about!
I will get a quote and see where it goes from there.
Thanks man!
Thanks Kiran! You will love the SimpliSafe products. After you install it (which will take you 15 minutes) and use it a week or so, hit me back on here to let everyone know what you think. We are about helping people make quality decisions about the security systems for their families, and all input is valuable, good or bad.. Actually, all honest input is good.
Thanks for your comments! Shoot us an update on here!!!

Hi Darrin
It looks like a good set of devices to install in our homes, especially since we now spend most of our time at work or on vacations. Certainly Covid-19 has changed things for now, but I feel even more vulnerable since so many people are roaming around. Anyway, I want to get a system. I love the camera component too, but I’m a little worried about the battery life, how does it look like? Is it available and supported in Africa I may consider it at my new house?
Hi Joel! Thanks for your comments and question. Yes, things will work fine in Africa as long as you have a WiFi connection in your home. Is that the case. Let me know, and if not, there are great options still for you.
The battery life on these cameras is longer than you would imagine. I’m thinking these are 2 years, but I will have to go check to be sure and give you accurate info. Hit me back on here regarding whether or not you have WiFi and I will answer back with the camera-life issue and other comparable and affordable options if you don’t have WiFi.
I look forward to hearing back from you!
Darrin:)
Thank you for sharing your review about the Simplisafe system. It sounds like a really easier option to be totally secure in your home. I especially like the fact that it doubles up as a smoke detector as well. This is a great feature. I agree going wireless is the way to go. We currently have a wired system in our home and the wires are visible by the windows for example. Aesthetically, the wireless option is definitely my preferred option. Sounds like a good system. Thank you
Thanks Drea! I’m glad the article was helpful. If you ever have questions, come back and we’ll be glad to answer them for you.

Hi Darrin,
Thank you so much for introducing Simplisafe. My husband and I have been using self-installed cameras that can be monitored using cellphones and hooked to our WiFi. It worked okay because we could see who came to our door, or when our package came from Amazon, we could watch our dogs playing in the backyard, etc. The thing is, it won’t work for more than one mobile phone and outside of the house. Not sure why. Also, the recording of the camera will be overwritten every Saturday. If we forgot to move the data to our computer (if there’s something important we need to report to the police, people took our package, etc), then we’ll lose that data. So, to be safe, I think we should find a better system that will give us more security and peace of mind. We’ll try Simplisafe. Thanks, Darrin.

No problem Ferra. I’m glad to help. You will be happy with SimpliSafe, I’m sure of it. After you have it all installed and working for a little while, come back and let us know what you think.
Thanks for your comments!
